The Matara Magistrate’s Court today (22) issued a warrant for the arrest of former minister Basil Rajapaksa after he failed to appear before court in connection with a case involving allegedly illegally acquired funds.
The case relates to allegations that Rajapaksa used unlawfully obtained money to purchase a plot of land at Brown’s Hill in Matara.
Following his absence during today’s hearing, the magistrate ordered that a warrant be issued for his arrest.
