Two men were arrested after police found them transporting Rs. 20.6 million in cash in a vehicle, with the source of the money yet to be verified.
The arrests were made on Tuesday evening by officers of the Colombo Central Division Criminal Investigation Unit in the Park Road area of the Kompannaveediya Police Division.
The suspects, aged 54 and 59, are residents of Colombo 13 and Colombo 14.
Police seized the cash and handed the suspects over to the Kompannaveediya Police Station for further investigations.
Authorities said inquiries are underway to determine the origin of the money and whether it is linked to any illegal activity.
