A group of 250 Japanese tourists arrived in Sri Lanka on Monday (31), marking the first-ever visit of such a large group from Japan and a significant milestone for the country’s tourism industry.
The visitors received a warm welcome at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), where the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) organized a vibrant traditional Kandyan dance performance to greet them.
The cultural display showcased Sri Lanka’s rich heritage and traditional hospitality, according to the BIA.
As part of the welcome ceremony, the tourists were also presented with packs of Ceylon Tea sponsored by the Sri Lanka Tea Board, highlighting the country’s renowned tea industry and its warm reception for international visitors.
