The Department of Meteorology has issued an amber-level heavy rainfall advisory, warning of rainfall of around 100 mm in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western provinces, as well as the Galle and Matara districts.
The advisory will remain in effect until 7.00 a.m. on September 23.
Residents in areas prone to heavy rain and flooding are advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions. Motorists are also urged to exercise caution when travelling through areas affected by heavy rainfall.
