According to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), the distribution of fuel to all filling stations across the nation is proceeding as normal and without any issues.
The recent trade union action by the petroleum employees over a number of requests caused a delay in the distribution of fuel.
Although the government deployed security forces personnel to guarantee a smooth continuation of the process and sent several trade unionists on mandatory leave, it still took strict steps to restore normal fuel distribution.
The CPC reported that yesterday (March 30), nearly 200 gasoline bowsers left the Kolonnawa petroleum storage terminal to deliver fuel to filling stations.
Because of this, the company added, there haven’t been any complaints about fuel lines or shortages as of last evening.
According to CPC sources, the majority of petroleum workers have ended their trade union activity and are reporting for work as normal.
