According to the Health Promotion Bureau, people are turning to the use of these analgesics (painkillers) as a treatment for high fever, physical pain, and headache.
Health authorities warned against using Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAID), which are frequently used to ease pain, reduce inflammation, and lower high body temperatures, without receiving the proper medical guidance from a doctor.
The Health Promotion Bureau further emphasized how popular in Sri Lanka the relevant class of analgesic medications are, including Ibuprofen, Mefenamic Acid, Indomethacin, Naproxen, Celecoxib, and Aspirin.
