Over 40 migrant workers from Sri Lanka who were stranded in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, were helped by SriLankan Airlines to return home.

The airline has given migrant workers who couldn’t afford to buy a ticket to go back home a safe and very economical route to Sri Lanka.

In a statement, SriLankan Airlines said that in order to assist these Sri Lankans in getting out of their bind and returning home to their loved ones, it will work closely with the Sri Lankan Consulate General in Dubai.

The trapped workers would be transported in groups by air from Dubai to Colombo. On August 23, 2023, UL 226 brought the first group to Sri Lanka, where they were reunited with their relatives.
