Sri Lanka’s police and security forces have apprehended 564 individuals within a 24-hour period as part of the ongoing anti-drug operation ‘Yukthiya’.
Among those arrested, 8 suspects were wanted on narcotics-related charges, while 92 others faced warrants for non-drug related offenses.
The Ministry of Public Security has secured detention orders against 9 of the drug suspects. Seized narcotics during this operation include heroin, crystal methamphetamine (Ice), cannabis, and narcotic pills, totaling significant quantities.
This latest crackdown underscores Sri Lanka’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and related crimes within the country.
