Sri Lanka Police have arrested 17 foreign nationals in two separate raids this week for allegedly remaining in the country without valid visas.
On Thursday (14), officers attached to the Panadura Walana Central Strike Unit conducted a raid at a hotel in Waskaduwa under the Kalutara North Police Division.
During the operation, 14 foreign nationals were taken into custody, including 12 citizens of China aged between 22 and 56, along with two nationals from Malaysia.
In a separate incident, officers from the Trincomalee Police Station raided a hotel in the Murugaripuri area within the Trincomalee Police Division yesterday, arresting three nationals of India aged 49 and 50 for similar visa-related offences.
Police said further investigations are being conducted by the Kalutara North Police and Trincomalee Police respectively.
