The University of Moratuwa has been temporarily closed after several students contracted dengue, authorities confirmed.
Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education Madhura Senevirathna said the decision was taken yesterday following discussions with health authorities.
The University’s Vice Chancellor has announced that all faculties will remain closed for two weeks to reduce the risk of further dengue transmission among students and staff.
The temporary closure follows a similar measure taken at the University of the Visual and Performing Arts, which was also shut down recently after students were affected by dengue.
