Deputy Minister Muneer Mulafer visited the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Colombo today (15) to express his condolences following the passing of the former Amir of Qatar. Deputy Speaker Rizwie Salih also joined the visit.
During the visit, the Deputy Minister and the met with Qatar’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Jassim bin Jabor Jassim Al-Suroor, and conveyed the deepest sympathies of the Government and the people of Sri Lanka to the current Amir, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Royal Family and the people of Qatar.
They also recalled the late Amir’s close friendship with Sri Lanka and his significant role in Qatar’s modern development, offering prayers for his eternal peace and reaffirming Sri Lanka’s solidarity with the State of Qatar during this period of mourning.
To mark the occasion, the Deputy Minister and the Deputy Speaker signed the official book of condolences placed at the Embassy.
