Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) C.D. Wickremaratne has died in a suspected suicide, according to Police.
Police said Wickremaratne is believed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his residence in Athurugiriya. Investigations into the incident are currently underway.
Wickremaratne served in the Sri Lanka Police for more than three decades and was the country’s 35th Inspector General of Police.
