Sri Lanka Railways has launched a new digital ticketing platform, allowing passengers to purchase train tickets online for the first time.
The new service, named Pravesha, is available through the official website, www.pravesha.lk, as well as the dedicated Pravesha mobile application.
Passengers can purchase tickets by entering their travel details and completing payments using credit or debit cards.
Once the transaction is completed, an electronic ticket is sent instantly to the passenger via SMS or email.
The e-tickets feature a QR code that can be scanned and verified at railway stations and onboard trains, eliminating the need for a physical ticket.
The launch of Pravesha forms part of Sri Lanka’s broader digitalization efforts to modernize public transport services and provide passengers with more convenient and efficient ticketing options.
