The Ministry of Education has authorised Provincial Education Secretaries and Provincial Directors of Education to decide whether schools in areas affected by adverse weather conditions should be temporarily closed.

The decision comes amid heavy rainfall across the country, which has raised concerns over disruptions to school activities in several areas.

Under the new measure, provincial education authorities have been granted the authority to determine whether schools in their respective regions should remain open or be closed temporarily, depending on local conditions.

The Ministry stated that such decisions should take into account the prevailing disaster situation, potential flood risks and road obstructions that could affect the safety of students and school staff.

The move is aimed at enabling provincial authorities to respond promptly to local weather conditions and ensure that school activities are conducted safely during periods of adverse weather.
