Cabinet green-lights roadmap for CEB restructuring process

According to Kanchana Wijesekera, minister of power and energy, the proposed schedule and roadmap for the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) restructuring process have been approved by the Cabinet.

The proposed restructuring plan received approval at yesterday’s (17 April) Cabinet meeting.

As a result, by the end of May, the Parliament will be provided with the final text of the new Electricity Act for approval.

The Cabinet of Ministers also approved the creation of a reform secretariat, as well as enlisting the help of development organizations like the World Bank, USAID, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to conduct a financial and human resource audit and finish the transition process by October 2023.
