Security has been increased in Akurana, Kandy, as a result of police receiving information of a potential mosque attack.
According to a senior police officer, authorities have taken all reasonable precautions to protect public safety.
He claimed that additional Police units have been sent out and that the Army has also been told to be on standby.
Brigadier Ravi Herath, a military spokesman, stated that in response to the Police’s request, the Army forces in the region have been put on standby.
