According to the United Nations, India has surpassed China to become the country with the largest population, with 142.86 crore people.

For the first time since millions of people died of starvation in 1960 as a result of Mao Zedong’s terrible agricultural policy, China’s population decreased in the previous year.

According to a report by the United Nations Population Fund (UNPF), India has a population of 1,428.6 million people, or 1.4286 billion, compared to China’s 1.4257 billion.

With a projected population of 340 million, the United States comes in a distant third.

The birthrate is falling in China, and the labor force is getting older. Although initiatives to increase birth rates have been made public in several Chinese regions, official efforts have not been able to stop the fall.

India, on the other hand, lacks fresh information on its population because the most recent census was carried out in 2011. Every ten years, a census is conducted in India. Due to the epidemic, it had to be delayed from its original 2021 date.
