The special commodity fee levied by the government on maize imported for “Thriposha” production by the Sri Lanka Thriposha Limited has been reduced.

The special commodity duty of Rs. 75 per kilogram that had previously been mandated on imported maize was therefore cut to Rs. 25 per kilogram, according to the Finance Ministry.

The tax break began to take effect on May 18.

With effect from May 18, the Finance Ministry has suspended the tax break offered for the import of dates in the interim.
