Only 17% of the nation’s pharmaceutical needs are now met locally, according to its Additional Secretary Dr. Saman Ratnayake.
In several pharmaceutical villages and districts, he said, attempts have been launched to develop new factories for this reason.
According to the Additional Secretary, 70% of the nation’s anticipated drug demands will be met domestically over the course of the next two years.
