New Position from President for Rosy

Rosy Senanayake, a former mayor of Colombo, has been named the president’s advisor on local government affairs.

From 2018 until 2023, Rosy Senanayake held the position of Mayoress of the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC).

She also worked for Ranil Wickramasinghe as the Deputy Head of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Prime Minister’s Spokesperson.

In 2015, Rosy Senanayake served as Maithripala Sirisena’s State Minister for Child Development.

She also served as the Western Provincial Council’s opposition leader and was the United National Party’s primary organizer in Colombo West.

Between 2001 and 2004, Senanayake represented Sri Lanka as High Commissioner to Malaysia and served as UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador.
