Bruno Divakara, the proprietor of the “SL VLOG” YouTube channel, who was detained on May 31st, has been remanded in custody until June 7.
Divakara was detained by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Wednesday night after being questioned about the recent contentious remarks made by stand-up comedian Nathasha Edirisooriya for more than eight hours.
Because the concerning video was first posted on the YouTube account for “SL VLOG,” which quickly became popular across social media platforms, Divakara was called in for interrogation.
After getting into trouble for certain comments she had made, purportedly disrespecting a number of faiths during her stint at a stand-up comedy concert recently held at a prestigious school in Colombo, Edirisooriya was detained by the CID on May 28.
She was also brought before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court shortly after her detention and given the order to remain in jail until June 7.
