As the Honorary Director General (Sri Lanka) for the Global Council for The Promotion of International Trade (GCPIT), business tycoon Nawaz Rajabdeen has been named.
Nawaz Rajabdeen offers a wealth of knowledge and leadership to this prestigious position with an exceptional combined experience of close to 45 years in both the private and governmental sectors.
Nawaz Rajabdeen has shown great leadership abilities throughout his career, and he has a phenomenal track record of turning around underperforming organizations and guiding them toward profitability. He has held top roles in a number of business chambers both in Sri Lanka and abroad, demonstrating his comprehensive knowledge of global trade and business.
Nawas Rajabdeen is currently in charge of a UN-supported organization in Sri Lanka, underscoring his dedication to advancing sustainable development and encouraging economic progress. He has a thorough knowledge of the opportunities and challenges that businesses confront because to his long experience in the private sector and his involvement with important business chambers.
Rajabdeen has made noteworthy contributions outside of his professional capacities. He holds the position of Co-Chairperson for the prominent UK-based non-profit Global Peace Institute (GPI), which promotes world stability and peace. In addition, he established and presently leads Sri Lanka’s Confederation of Micro, Small, and Medium Industries (COSMI), a group whose mission is to revitalize and promote MSMEs through a variety of programs.
Rajabdeen actively promotes SMEs as engines of inclusive growth and long-term social change in his capacity as an ambassador for the World Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (WUSME) in Italy. His support for female entrepreneurs and emphasis on creating a living and jobs are notable contributions to promoting economic empowerment.
