Pastor Jerome : Investigation launched under Money Laundering Act

Under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, an investigation has been opened into notorious Sri Lankan Pastor Jerome Fernando.

When the case brought against Pastor Jerome Fernando for hearing was up today, the Attorney General informed the Court of Appeal of the inquiry.

The Sri Lanka Police have issued a warrant for Pastor Jerome Fernando after he insulted Lord Buddha, Islam, and Hinduism in front of a crowded church.

His comments were captured on video, which infuriated the nation’s Buddhist population. Pastor Jerome Fernando apologized for his contentious statement after the incident.

On May 15, the Fort Magistrate’s Court granted the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) a travel ban against Pastor Jerome Fernando; however, it was later discovered that the pastor had already departed the country the day before.

To prevent his arrest by the CID, Pastor Jerome Fernando has filed a Fundamental Rights (FR) petition with the court.
