According to Minister of Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation Pavithradevi Wanniarachchi, a new strategy will be developed to solve the persistent conflict between elephants and people.

The senator expressed the expectation that a programme with short-, medium-, and long-term objectives can address the problem.

Wanniarachchi noted that in order to effectively manage the human-elephant conflict, it is necessary to develop a long-term strategy. He also said that the new policy would eventually be made into a law.

The lawmaker believes that by doing this, the problem between humans and elephants can be permanently settled.
