After ending his formal two-day visit to India on Friday night (July 21), President Ranil Wickremesinghe flew back to the island. His trip to the neighbour nation was his first since entering office in 2022.

On Thursday (July 20), Wickremesinghe left for New Delhi at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accompanied by a 17-person entourage.

Both nations are commemorating the 75th anniversary of the start of diplomatic relations at the time of the visit.

The Sri Lankan leader met with his Indian counterpart Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Modi, and several other important Indian dignitaries in New Delhi, including Gautam Adani, a billionaire industrialist, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, on a bilateral basis during his visit.
