According to the action plan for the proposed deal, the proposed Sri Lanka-Thailand Free Trade deal (FTA) is anticipated to be signed in March 2024, the Sri Lankan cabinet spokesman said today.
According to the information provided by the President regarding the status of the fifth round of negotiations on the proposed trade agreement, at the cabinet meeting held yesterday (24 July), negotiations relevant to the FTA are therefore expected to be finished in February 2024.
The proposed agreement’s fifth round of negotiations took place in Colombo from June 26 to 28. During this time, the sanitary and phytosanitary chapters, as well as discussions on economic cooperation, customs cooperation, and trade facilitation, were all resolved.
