The Ceylon Bank Employees Union (CBEU) has expressed worry about the report that the committee formed to look into the anomalies inside state banks has put together being kept secret.
As a result, CBEU Chairman Channa Dissanayake claimed that because the report was not made public, the corruption and fraud occurring within state banks remained a secret.
He added that although forensic audits into the activities of the Bank of Ceylon (BOC) have been requested, none have yet been carried out.
Dissanayake said this during a press conference on Friday, August 11, in Colombo.
Dharmasri Kumaratunge, a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), meanwhile cautioned the public to avoid having excessive concerns about carrying out financial transactions using new payment instruments.
