Wasantha Samarasinghe, a politburo member of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), said that the public should demonstrate against the proposed labour law revisions that will further oppress the working class.

Speaking to reporters today (17) during a campaign to distribute handouts in opposition to the new labour laws that have been proposed, the former MP expressed that the government had introduced 13 labour laws at once and that the laws had been revised at the IMF’s request.

“The current government, which has no mandate, is attempting to change the labour laws that people all over the world, not just in Sri Lanka, fought for and won,” he said.
