Three fishermen in difficulty who were on board a local fishing vessel that overturned after straying into Indian waters north of Sri Lanka have been rescued by the Sri Lankan Navy.

Through the supervision of the Maritime Rescue Coordinating Centre (MRCC) Colombo, the fishermen were rescued by a merchant vessel before the Sri Lanka Navy brought them ashore yesterday (Sept 17).

After departing from Hambantota on September 2 for a usual fishing expedition, the troubled trawler OFRP-A-1604 TLE regrettably capsized as it drifted towards Indian waters due to mechanical difficulties.
