According to a press statement from the Communications Department of Parliament, applications are now being accepted for the Surcharge Appeals Committee.
Any individual who feels wronged by a judgement taken by the Chief Accounting Officer of an audit company listed in the aforementioned Act may appeal against it to the Surcharge Appeals Committee, which is the appellate body to be formed pursuant to Section 21 of the National Audit Act, No. 19 of 2018.
In order to fill the positions of members of the Surcharge Appeals Committee, which will hear and decide appeals from anyone who feels wronged by the decision referred to above, applications are now being accepted from individuals with experience in the fields of auditing, law, public finance management, public administration, and engineering.
The National Audit Office and Sri Lanka State Audit Service employees, however, are not qualified to serve on this committee.
