President invites Iranian counterpart to inaugurate Uma Oya Hydro Power Station

On the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York yesterday (20), President Ranil Wickremesinghe spoke with a number of foreign leaders.

In order to discuss important economic issues, President Ranil Wickremesinghe and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva met.

Ms. Georgieva and President Wickremesinghe discussed continuing banking sector reforms and the significant advancements made in debt restructuring programmes during the meeting. The Sri Lankan government’s successful efforts to reduce inflation and foster a climate that is favourable for business growth, as well as the country’s thriving tourism sector, were praised by the IMF Managing Director. She expressed her gratitude for the government’s dedication to improving the country’s overall economic climate.
