The International Cricket Council (ICC) is pleased with the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic organisers’ recommendation to include cricket in the Games.

Cricket was featured on the list of sports to be added in LA after a two-year process, during which the ICC collaborated closely with LA28, and it will now be presented to the IOC for approval.

“We are thrilled that LA28 have recommended cricket for inclusion in the Olympics,” ICC Chairman Greg Barclay remarked.

Even if this isn’t the final decision, it’s a big step towards cricket’s return to the Olympics after more than a century.

“I’d like to thank LA28 for their support throughout the new sport evaluation process over the last two years, and we look forward to the final decision being taken at the IOC Session, in India, during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup next week.”
