The Road Development Authority (RDA) reports that traffic on the Southern Motorway is still impeded as a result of the earth slip that was recorded last night (Oct. 11).
Due to yesterday’s heavy rains, an earth slip was observed close to the 102km Post between the Pinnaduwa and Imaduwa interchanges. As a result, since last night, both lanes of the motorway have been shut.
In order to clear the blocked section of road, RDA troops are currently collaborating with Sri Lanka Army forces, according to RDA Director-General L.V.S. Weerakoon.
By this afternoon (Oct. 12), Weerakoon hopes to get 2 of the expressway’s 4 lanes open again for traffic.
