Sri Lanka’s police and security forces have arrested 663 suspects within a 24-hour period as part of the ongoing nationwide anti-drug operation ‘Yukthiya’. Among those arrested, 547 are linked to narcotics-related charges, while 116 were wanted criminal suspects.
The Ministry of Public Security reported that warrants had been issued against 14 suspects for drug-related offenses and 95 for non-drug-related offenses. Two suspects have been detained, and two others referred to rehabilitation centers. Seized narcotics include heroin, crystal methamphetamine (Ice), cannabis, and cannabis plants.
