Engaging with hotel owners and addressing their concerns directly, the President liaised with officials to devise solutions for industry challenges. With tourist arrivals doubling in 2023, reaching 1,489,000, the government aims to surpass 2017’s peak of 2.5 million visitors by 2024. President Wickremesinghe’s discussions included plans to attract high-end tourists through infrastructure projects and innovative promotions.
The President also interacted with tourists at various hotspots, seeking feedback to further enhance the tourism experience.
Accompanying him was Jeffry Dobbs, dedicated to improving tourism for both local and international visitors.
The tour underscores the government’s proactive approach to sustainable tourism growth.
