Colombo, Sri Lanka – January 15, 2025 – Hanan Hussain, the esteemed Chairman of MFCD Sri Lanka, has been elected as the Treasurer of the Asian Disaster Reduction and Response Network (ADRRN) for 2025. This historic appointment marks a significant milestone, as MFCD Sri Lanka is the sole organization representing Sri Lanka within ADRRN, a leading regional platform dedicated to fostering disaster resilience and inclusive governance.
Hanan Hussain’s election as Treasurer comes at a pivotal time, coinciding with ADRRN’s Annual General Meeting held in Bangkok in December 2024. This event showcased the network’s achievements over the past year, including its contributions to disaster resilience and locally-led climate adaptation initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region.

ADRRN’s 2024 milestones include active participation in the Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR), the launch of the SIDRRA project, and initiatives like the Voices of Resilience campaign.
