Pro-Palestine Protest March in Colombo to Join Regional and Global Solidarity Movement

Date:

Colombo will witness a major pro-Palestine protest march on Friday, 15 August 2025, starting at 3 p.m. from Vihara Maha Devi Park and proceeding towards Hyde Park, Union Place. The march is jointly organized by political and civic society groups from across the country’s diverse communities, expressing solidarity with the people of Palestine.

This demonstration is part of a coordinated regional movement taking place simultaneously across six Asian countries—Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines. The initiative, supported by Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia, aims to build momentum for a global solidarity campaign spearheaded by Malaysia.

Under the patronage of Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, the campaign seeks to unite more than 45 countries in sending over 150 vessels across the Mediterranean in early September to break the siege on Gaza.
