The Cabinet of Ministers has approved (12th) a proposal to establish diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Belize, aimed at strengthening political, socio-economic, and cultural cooperation.
The move follows Sri Lanka’s earlier decision to build ties with several Latin American nations, including Guatemala, Suriname, Honduras, Nicaragua, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Haiti, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
The proposal, presented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, seeks to formalize the partnership through a joint statement, paving the way for enhanced friendly relations and mutual benefits for both countries.
