Parliament is set to adopt amendments to the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) on October 21, 2025, following the completion of the Committee Stage.
According to an official media release, the PDPA Amendment Bill, which received Cabinet approval, was earlier passed at the Second Reading on June 3, 2025.
The Ministry of Digital Economy, in consultation with the Legal Draftsman’s Department and the Attorney General’s Department, has proposed several minor amendments to be introduced during the Committee Stage.
The statement confirmed that the Committee Stage amendments, already approved by the Cabinet, will be adopted without debate and that the Third Reading of the Bill will also be passed on the same day.
The amendments are expected to strengthen the implementation framework of the PDPA and ensure greater protection of personal data in line with global standards.
