The Joint Opposition — comprising the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), United National Party (UNP), National Freedom Front (NFF), and several other allied parties — announced today that it will launch a united political campaign beginning on November 21.
The initiative will kick off with a large rally in Nugegoda, followed by a series of public demonstrations to be held across the country.
Opposition representatives said the coalition is drawing inspiration from the allied forces that united against Adolf Hitler during World War II, claiming their campaign seeks to challenge what they describe as growing threats to democracy and governance.
