Indian nationals continue to dominate Sri Lanka’s tourist arrivals, with 35,090 visitors recorded in the first 23 days of October, according to the latest data released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
The figure contributes to a total of 119,670 arrivals so far this month, highlighting the ongoing importance of South Asia’s largest tourism market to Sri Lanka’s economic recovery.
The United Kingdom ranked second with 9,759 visitors during the same period, followed by China (8,821), Germany (6,944), and Russia (6,635), the SLTDA reported.
With the inclusion of October statistics, tourist arrivals for 2025 have reached 1,845,164. India remains the top contributor overall, with 410,382 visitors this year, while the UK has provided 171,652 tourists and Russia 128,779.
Tourism officials expect arrivals to further increase as the winter travel season progresses, driven by promotional campaigns and improved connectivity with key global markets.
