An office assistant of the Colombo District Court has been arrested by the Bribery Commission on allegations of accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000, officials said.
The suspect had allegedly demanded the bribe in exchange for providing a certified copy of a case file.
Bribery Commission officers arrested the court employee in front of a shop near the Keselwatte Police Station during a sting operation carried out earlier today.
He is expected to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court. Authorities say further investigations are underway.
