The Ministry of External Affairs of India says it is examining requests for diesel supplies from neighbouring countries, including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Maldives.

According to Press Trust of India, Indian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that India is a major exporter of refined petroleum products, particularly to countries in its neighbourhood.

He noted that Bangladesh has formally requested a diesel supply, and the request is currently under review.

Jaiswal added that diesel exports to Bangladesh have largely continued since 2017, but future decisions will depend on India’s refining capacity, domestic fuel requirements, and overall availability.

He further stated that similar requests from Sri Lanka and the Maldives are also being evaluated, with India taking its own energy needs into consideration before making a final decision.
