President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has warned of delays in crude oil shipments to Sri Lanka due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo, the President revealed that two crude oil shipments, each carrying 90,000 metric tonnes, have been delayed despite being secured under long-term procurement agreements. He added that an additional shipment arranged by a private fuel supplier has also been postponed.
He cautioned that such disruptions could impact the country’s fuel distribution system, noting that even a single delayed shipment can hinder efforts to maintain planned supply levels.
Addressing concerns over LP gas availability, the President stated that a shipment of 38,000 metric tonnes of Litro gas has already been received this month, with a further 33,000 metric tonnes expected to arrive within the next two days.
