The Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has announced that fuel distribution will follow an odd-even number plate system starting tomorrow (19).
Under the new system, vehicles with number plates ending in even digits, including zero, will be allowed to obtain fuel on even-numbered days. Vehicles with number plates ending in odd digits will be served on odd-numbered days.
Meanwhile, the Fuel Station Owners Association stated that, with effect from today (18), fuel will only be issued upon presentation of the official QR code.
Association Chairman Kumar Rajapaksha said that previously granted concessions allowing fuel to be issued without the QR code have now been withdrawn.
He stressed that fuel will not be dispensed without the QR code under any circumstances, including emergencies.
“If there are issues with the QR code, customers should contact 1919 and resolve them before visiting fuel stations. Earlier, we provided some flexibility by issuing fuel without the QR code, but going forward, fuel will only be distributed through the QR system,” he said.
