The government has confirmed that a multi-day fishing vessel seized by the Sri Lanka Navy while transporting narcotics was carrying heroin valued at over Rs. 400 million.
Deputy Minister of Defence Aruna Jayasekara made this statement during an inspection of the seized stock.
According to authorities, an examination conducted by the Police Narcotics Bureau revealed that more than 150 kilograms of heroin were found onboard the vessel.
Further investigations are underway as officials continue legal proceedings against those involved.
