The Irrigation Department has extended the Amber-level flood warning for the Kelani River Basin for a further 48 hours, urging residents and motorists in vulnerable areas to remain vigilant.
The warning, issued this morning, will remain in effect until 11.30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5.
According to the department, continuous rainfall and rising water levels have increased the risk of flooding in low-lying areas along the Kelani River.
Residents living in flood-prone areas and motorists travelling through affected locations have been advised to exercise extreme caution.
The Irrigation Department has also called on Disaster Management Authorities to take the necessary measures to minimize potential risks and ensure public safety.
