The Irrigation Department has extended flood warnings issued for the Kuda Ganga sub-basin of the Kalu River and the Gin Ganga basin for another 24 hours, citing continued rainfall and rising water levels.
The warnings, initially issued on September 20, 2026, remain in effect due to the continued risk of flooding in the affected areas.
Kuda Ganga Flood Warning
The Irrigation Department said the flood warning issued at 9:30 a.m. on September 20 for the Kuda Ganga sub-basin has been extended for a further 24 hours.
Residents in flood-prone areas have been urged to remain vigilant, while motorists travelling through the affected region—particularly on by-roads—have been advised to exercise extreme caution.
Disaster management authorities have also been requested to take the necessary precautionary measures.
Gin Ganga Flood Warning
Meanwhile, the flood warning issued at 12:30 p.m. on September 20 for the Gin Ganga basin has also been extended for another 24 hours.
Residents in vulnerable areas and motorists using roads in the region, especially by-roads, have been advised to exercise extreme caution due to the possibility of flooding.
The Irrigation Department has requested disaster management authorities to take appropriate action in response to the extended warnings.
