Showers or thundershowers are expected in most parts of Sri Lanka after 1.00 p.m. today (02), with fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm likely in some areas of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Western, Uva, Southern, North-Western and North-Central provinces.

According to the Department of Meteorology, misty conditions may occur in some areas of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces during the morning.

The public has been advised to take adequate precautions to minimize possible damage from temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the sea areas extending from Mannar to Galle, via Puttalam and Colombo, during the evening or night.

Winds are expected to be south-westerly at speeds of 20–30 kmph, while sea conditions around the island are expected to remain slight.

However, temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas may occur during thundershowers.
