Former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) this morning.
CIABOC officials reportedly recorded a statement from Rajapaksa at her residence before taking her into custody.
According to reports, she was arrested over allegations relating to the obtaining of Rs. 10 million from a state bank.
The allegations reportedly involve suspected misappropriation and corruption, as well as offences under the Public Property Act.
